2010 macbook pro os
This was being caused by the swollen battery pushing and pressuring the trackpad from the inside forcing it up. And the battery itself was heating a little.Īnother side effect of the swollen battery: My Macbook trackpad was hard to click, I was having to do a lot of pressure to click it, and it always used to be easy clicking. The battery was also causing more heating on the macbook aluminum chassis because it was swollen and taking a larger space inside it and difficulting internal air passages. But then draining became too fast on the mid of the year, for no other reason, just battery age: the battery was dying. My original battery was 6 years old, capacity health was showing 62% on toolbar icon when I replaced it but draining was TOO FAST: about 1 hour under heavy usage and 2 hours under normal usage.Īt the beginning of 2018 draining was acceptable, not like a new one, but for a 6 years old laptop the battery was giving me 4 hours of usage, this is very acceptable. The FACT: The performance capacity will be the same as if it was a new macbook pro, after you change your battery.ĭetails about my old battery situation:

If I remember well, I think about 10 hours for your model.

Yours is a mid 2010, capacity and time should be very similar to mine. The '6 hours and 12 hours' usage example above is a real example based on my experience/situation, on my macbook, a mid 2012 MacBook Pro, also SSD And about 12 hours under "normal usage" (browsing internet without video/audio, text editing, programming software, chatting, etc] I will describe you my situation and some technical details:īut first, about your other question: There is no such "longer capacity" battery for this kind of battery, but changing it for a new original one will give back your MacBook factory performance capacity! (about 5 hours under "heavy usage (video/multimedia/etc).

My MacBook Pro is a mid 2012, I had to change the battery for the same problem as yours: Fast Draining. Old batteries can also cause excessive heating in some Macbook models. Please check your battery health on the battery icon on the toolbar, if it is less than 70% and if the battery has more than 4 years, it's old and dying, and you should replace it for a new one. Macbook battery life is about 4 to 7 years. If you want to experiment with this, get a second-hand Thinkbook from eBay and put Ubuntu Linux on it.
#2010 MACBOOK PRO OS INSTALL#
It's pretty decent if you want to run a server, which is what I use it for, but you will be disappointed if you wipe a functional 2010 MBP and install Linux.

It probably always will be, since all the client programs are written to different user interface standards. I've been using it for something like 15 years, and it's still pretty clunky as a desktop OS. Eventually there will be too many programs that require 10.14, but that's a while off. Other than "dark mode", I'm not sure what the differences are, and there's nothing that springs out as a "must have".
#2010 MACBOOK PRO OS UPGRADE#
I then put in a NewerTech NuPower 103W Battery, which works fine.įor the OS upgrade - do you need it? I have an MBA with 10.14, and my 2010 MBP is running 10.13. What battery are you using? I had an accredited service centre replace the battery on my 2010 17" MBP, but the new one was dreadful, giving about an hour's life and then suddenly falling to 7%.
